DVD's of my Video Art
I am currently preparing several disks for purchase. As there are now several DVD formats I shall be updating these discs into Dual Layer and High Definition Collections shortly - though of course this work is from the early days of video and consequently should be viewed in low resolution playback. My current phase of work is all of course in high definition digital video..
At the moment each DVD is around 60 minutes long to take full advantage of the best quality codec for these selected artworks. Previously each disc was individually signed but I now realise the notion of a 'signature' is a foolishness in itself. Much of my work interrogates the notion of the 'authentic' piece of art and so video or digital media, in their very nature are infinitely copy-able. In a sense if anyone went to the trouble of duplicating these discs fully (and importantly their disc printing which in effect is the artists signature which will become apparaent when you recieve the disc) then of course the artworks themselves as objects would retain some value.
The discs value of course is beyond the individual cost and will of course grow with time - there will only ever be 100 issued of each disc. Many of the pieces are award winning at various festivals around the world and many have been broadcast - all are sited within the history of the development of this medium and are in themselves groundbreaking works that precis the use of video as a medium that is now accepted as a medium for art - at the time of making of course, this was not the case.
These works have been selected from the list of works that can be found here.
TERRY FLAXTON WORKS 1976 - 2006
As mentioned each of the following groups of projects is a separate DVD. Most run at under one hour, bur some of the DVD's in the documentaries area will run at 90 minutes. The compilations of British and European Art will each have one DVD as will all the installation works. There will be 25 DVD's in total. Unless otherwise stated all programmes Directed by Terry Flaxton, All Vida and Triple Vision projects Produced by Penny Dedman, except The World Within Us produced by Caroline Ross Pirie, all Ignition Films Projects Produced by Alison Sterling). I am a believer in this medium in collaboration - but also of the integrity of the artist.

I was awarded a Prix Niki from the festival in Amsterdam for my editing).
