Roberto Schaefer ASC, is a well respected Director of Cinematography working out of Los Angeles (and also New Orleans).

Roberto trained up in both Italy and America and is conversant not only with 35mm but also with early video right through to todays' Digital Cinematography. Roberto, as long time collaborator with Marc Forster, shot Quantum Of Solace (part of the Bond Franchise), plus the Kite Runner, Finding Neverland, Waiting for Guffman, Best In Show, and the recent Machine Gun Preacher, and has just finished the Paperboy with director Lee Daniels which features Nicole Kidman and The Host, with Director Andrew Niccol which featured William Hurt. Roberto's committment is to 'the image' and says that he chooses the best medium for the job. I began by asking Roberto to outline how he became a cinematographer and tried to trace his history within both film and video to point towards how film and digital cinematography now come together.
