'You can scale the figures up and down for different screen sizes. What seems clear to me is that we don't need 4K in the average movie theatre. Interestingly when we get to smaller sizes of screen, i.e. in the home, it does matter because we sit proportionally closer to the screen. Also this is for final projected resolution and I have absolutely no argument whatsoever with shooting at higher pixels counts than we need. It's just maybe we get more bang for our buck from brightness, dynamic range & colour space?' Geoff Boyle DP, 21st April 2012

I created and hosted a series of Symposia on the theme of digitality and the materiality of the HD image during an exhibition of my work in December 2010 and these took place at the University of Westminster's P3 Gallery - these are published online and are video records of papers given and the discussions that ensued.
