Terry
Flaxton has been a Video Artist and Director of Photography
for 25 years. His first video work was made in 1976 and by 1979 he had
won a prize at the 4th Tokyo Video Festival for 'Talking Heads'. Over
the years his work has been screened at over 30 festivals worldwide
as far flung as Kuala Lumpa, Sydney, Moscow and Copenhagen, from Istanbul
to Finland and his work has been represented in the Bonne Biennale and
the Fukui Biennale, he has had retrospectives at festivals like Mill
Valley in California and also his work has been purchased by the Arnolfini
in Bristol and Museum of Modern Art in Berlin. The entire collection
of his work (works from 1976 until 2004) is housed at InVideo in Milan.
As a Director of Photography, Terry has shot dramas, commercials,
dance projects, documentaries, live TV shows and multi camera events
on all film formats to 35mm and all video formats to High Definition.
He has shot 4 feature films with a fifth coming up later this year.
Occasionally the two vocations cross over and one area supplies the
inspiration for the other as in 'Prisoners', an award winning work from
1984. His latest installation, the Dinner Party will be staged at the
Hotel event, the 2005 Glastonbury Festival and the InVideo Art Festival
in Milan later this year.
